Simple tips for better Google Ranking

Posted by Dominique Kinne on

The Internet has become a medium used by everyone today for various purposes, mainly to get the desired information, service or product as soon as possible.

If you are on a page that wants to bring the above concepts closer to users, you need to be in the most visible place when they go in search.

That is why everyone wants to achieve the best possible position in the search results. The problems that arise here are - a lot of competition and the fact that Google is constantly changing the rules of SEO optimization, and you certainly do not want your website to get a "red card" and be deleted from the list because you applied the wrong methods.

Below, we’ll share with you 10 effective ways to improve your Google rankings.

1. Engage in keyword research

This is one of the most effective and basic marketing strategies, as well as the starting point of marketing campaigns of any inline business.
You need to track down the words that your target group will use in order to get to the business you are in.
If you are unaware of the queries your visitors are using, you will have difficulty ranking your site.
An excellent solution to this problem are:

    Google Keyword Planner,
    WordStream or
    WordTracker,

which are, among other things, free.

In the sea of posts, you need to choose topics that are really readable and that will bring new users later when they search for that topic. Therefore, before writing the content, it is important to analyze the topic and optimize the title, then make subtitles (H2).

At the blog trainings, we explain step by step how to do a detailed analysis of the title that will be well positioned on Google and bring visits to the blog in the coming years.

Tools such as Google keyword planner, Keywordtool.io, Ahrefs.com and others can also be helpful.

2. Provide quality content

There is no alternative to great content, so you need to work on it, because useful, readable and unique content will surely result in better rankings.
A narrative type of content is recommended, to make it look like one story in which you will have room to interest, and perhaps enchant your audience.

Also, try to start the story with a unique message that will resonate with your audience.

3. Refresh the site with new multimedia content

Sites that are out of date and stagnate to refresh the content that represents them, quickly fall to lower positions. So, this should be reason enough to encourage you to update your content more often, because it will definitely benefit you. If you own a blog site, make sure you write a new article at least once a week.

4. Don't try to fool Google with keywords

Avoid spamming. If you come up with the idea of fooling search engines by inserting the same words multiple times into different elements, it will not bear fruit. In addition, you can be banned by Google with this approach.

5. Use keywords in titles and H1 tags

Titles that start with a keyword have been shown to rank better than titles that contain it at the end.
The H1 tag within an article is presented as another headline that sends relevant information to google. So keep in mind that keywords within these elements contribute to ranking quality.

6. Creating quality backlinks

When people visit your site from someone else, the page rank improves. But if visitors come from a site that is less popular than yours, it is questionable how it is viewed, given that page rank will only improve if the visits are from a more reputable website.

Quality backlinks can bring great results for your site.

7. Speed up page response

Google has introduced page load speed into its ranking algorithm, so this is also a significant factor if you’re trying to rank well.
On the other hand, there are visitors who are less and less patient and expect content in the best shape in just a few seconds. There is a thin timeline that separates them from leaving the page, and if users leave, your bounce rate (the number of users who visit only one page and leave the site) increases, which negatively affects the better google ranking.

Several additional factors that also affect rank are domain and hosting. It doesn't matter if you have your own domain or use the free version, the age of the domain (the older the domain, the better). We advise you to renew your domain every year and never do the following: use a free domain and switch to a personal domain and then free again, and when you realize the error, rent another personal domain with a different name (because the previous one is busy).

8. Image optimization

Images send relevant and relevant information to search engines through their title, alt text, title and description. It is necessary to use descriptive words that refer to the content of the image or video content that is on the site.

It is very important that you also optimize the images, if you ask yourself: "How does Google read the images?" Is the answer in ALT-TAG in the image description. If the name of the image is e.g. "Picture-1575-0506-2020.jpeg" when someone searches for images on google will not find them, but if the image name is "wallpaper-iphoneX.jpeg" it is very likely that they will show it for that search.

Also, images up to 1MB in size read faster. We recommend that you reduce the images you take with your mobile phone or camera, which are usually 3000 × 4500 px.

9. Provide customer / client impressions

A recommendation from a satisfied customer is certainly a positive thing, because in that case potential customers have proof of the validity of your services.
This will also affect your reputation, increase trust and make visitors become customers.

10. Create a sitemap

The purpose of a sitemap is to provide insight into the structure of your site, both by visitors and robots from search engines that collect important data from your site.
The sitemap will inform the search engine as soon as possible if any changes have been made to it.

Therefore, when you update some content on your website, the browser will index it efficiently.

Useful tool for creating a site map: XML sitemap generator

To summarize:

These methods are basic steps that you can apply with ease and in a short period of time to achieve quality results when ranking your website.
After these steps, it is natural that you want insight into the results you have achieved. You can use Google Analytics for this purpose - a free and easy-to-use tool. It will provide complete information about your visitors, such as how they came to your site, from which continent, which keyword led them to reach you, and from which pages they "escape".

2. Top 20 SEO Optimization Tips

SEO stands for Search engine optimization. While the term sounds banal when you try to explain to a five-year-old what SEO is, it may be best to say that it is the process by which we create a website that search engines know how to read, and consider it good for a particular query.

The goal of SEO optimization is to achieve a better ranking for the same keyword than the competition. It is also the simplest definition of SEO optimization.

Companies are increasingly becoming aware of the need to understand and implement at least basic search engine optimization (SEO). But if you read various blogs and websites, you will quickly see that there is a great unknown about what constitutes the “basics” of SEO optimization. Without consulting with companies and consultants who have been doing this for a long time and without much experience, we come into contact with misinformation about SEO strategies and tactics.

Why is SEO important?

You need to keep in mind one important thing - optimization for Google is the most effective marketing possible. If you are first on the search results when someone is looking for what you are selling or doing, it means that anywhere on planet Earth when someone is looking to buy your product or service, that comes to you.

When I explain SEO - I use a different analogy: when you have a well-optimized website, it's like having a business space in the city center, and not paying rent. Herein lies the biggest benefit of SEO optimization.

Well, back to the topic of the article…
There are countless tips on SEO optimization, and here we bring you the 20 most important:

1. SEO optimization is a time consuming process - SEO is not done one day, it is a process that lasts without end. The algorithms by which Google ranks websites change frequently, and certain tactics don’t take too long. The goal of changing the algorithms is to make the search engine user experience as good as possible. That is why SEO optimization requires constant commitment.

2. Be patient. SEO is not about instant success. If you want instant visits to your website then, you need marketing through Google or Facebook ads. But it costs money right away. The results of SEO optimization are often seen only after a few months, and this is especially the case if you are a small business, or new to the market. This is understandable, because if, for example, you have a service for Volkswagen vehicles in Atlanta, and there are already 3 services, you must first position yourself better than them (if possible :)).

3. Inquire a lot when hiring an SEO agency. It is very important that you know what tactics they use, and that they introduce you to the processes and technologies they use. It is best to inquire immediately for details. It is also important to inquire about risks. SEO optimization is not alchemy, it is just a name for a set of techniques, and it is not something that cannot be understood.

4. SEO Apprentice - If you are doing SEO optimization yourself for your website, then be prepared that you need to learn a lot. By learning I mean looking for articles and resources about different parts of SEO optimization. Where to start? Well the best of the database of articles on Searchengineland.com and the explanation on Wikipedia, a guide to SEO for beginners, SEO explained in an easy way and many other articles…

5. Use data analytics services from the beginning. Google Analytics and Search Console are required from the start. We need tools because we use them to track what is successful and what is not.

6. Create a top-notch website. I’m sure you want to be the best and have your website appear in the first place on search results. Analyze your website objectively, and if you notice things that are not good, or that your competition is better - improve immediately.

7. Create a sitemap. Search engines cannot index a web page if they cannot search it. A sitemap will help search engines navigate your website more easily. You will also send the sitemap to Google for review. A sitemap is used to help search engines understand the hierarchy of your website.

8. Use optimized links. Use keywords in each link. An example of this is: https://tvrtka.hr/usluga/naziv-usluge/. When visitors see such a link, they immediately know what it is about.

9. Explore all possible keywords. This actually means looking for all the terms that you want to have a good rank for, and that you know users will search for. With these results, you know which keywords should be on your website. The secret is that if you want your service for Volkswagen vehicles in Atlanta to be well ranked for the terms "car service Atlanta", "Volkswagen service", "car service Atlanta" and the like, then these terms must be on your website (in titles, subtitles, in the text, in the titles of the images…). You can do keyword research with one of the following tools: https://keywordtool.io/google, https://kwfinder.com/, https://www.wordtracker.com/ and I think it's very good -> https: //neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/.

10. Start with PPC advertising. The top recommendation is Google AdWords, and it’s a great way to really find out what interest is in your keywords. Yes, it costs money, but if your budget allows it, then it’s worth the investment. Also, it’s a solution if you want to avoid point 2 (be patient) and look for results fast.

11. Use unique and relevant titles and descriptions of each subpage. The title of the page is the most important thing in on-page SEO optimization. The description of the page will not help you rank better for a particular term, but it is important because it appears in search results and it is important that it contains relevant keywords and in some way encourages visitors to click on the link.
Difference between title tag and meta description

12. Write for users, not search engines. Google, like other search engines, has pretty clever algorithms and can understand whether a website is written in a simple language for people, or is made just to position itself as well as possible on search results. A website should be made for people, and to be useful to people, not for search engines.

13. Content should be useful, and unique. This makes no sense if you are copying text from another website. What makes sense is to find the text, see how it can be made better, and write a new article with better content. The same is the case when you have a webshop, so everyone just copies the product description from the supplier, instead of writing your own, unique description, and making it interesting to customers.

14. Use keywords as so-called. anchor text when you link it to someone else. When you write an article on your website and a term that you have already written about in another article appears in the article, then you use that term as a link.

15. Gradually build links to your website. So, from the start it is good that your website is linked from directories, forums, social networks, other blogs and from your blog. It is a good tactic to write a blog on a topic in which you are an expert and then after publishing each article share the article in the newsletter to readers, on social networks, by forums, and send it to webmasters of other blogs and ask for a link to your website.

16. Press release (or paid article). This has proven to be very good for a long term SEO result. Namely, let's say you start the aforementioned car service, it's good to be written about in local portals, because when people hear about you, they will often search for your company on the Internet and such an article will be at the top of search results. The good thing is that this is a paid article, and you practically 100% control the content ?? A press release is always good for initially informing potential customers of your services about you.

17. Blog, and articles about your industry. This has proven to me countless times as a very good tool. Why? Well, suppose you give free advice on maintaining tin pets, you actually have a group of readers who are your interest group and every blog article can be an advertisement at some service of yours. Or .. below each article you can write a promotional text to contact you for all other questions about car maintenance and servicing.

18. Use social networks. This is important primarily for the purpose of making it easier for your customers to communicate with you. Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube or Twitter, which network to choose depends on you, more precisely on the interest group, but I would definitely advise you to be present everywhere.
Why is it important to optimize your website for local search?

19. Take advantage of local searches. For virtually any business, I would recommend Google Business, Google Maps listing, Facebook places, and a LinkedIn and Twitter business account. Also, it is desirable that as many users as possible leave reviews with your company and thus create a positive impression on potential future customers right from the start. In addition, it is recommended that your company be included in local web directories (eg a web list of entrepreneurs in your county or city).

20. The source of traffic to your website should be from as many sources as possible. Every now and then there is an update of the algorithm in social networks as they place content to users, and if you depend on only one source, then with some negative change your business model may fall into the water. That is why it is good if you can hold organic searches, visits from social networks, searches of local companies, visits through PPC campaigns, etc. in parallel.

Finally, we should always test SEO tactics. Testing gives us an insight into how well we did the job ??

I hope the tips in the article will help you optimize your site for search engines.

3. Want a better position on Google? Here is the SEO list for quality optimization!

SEO, search engine optimization, SERP, Google results, organic traffic…. You’ve probably heard of most of these terms before. But do you know what they mean? Or better question - do you know what SEO is for?

Yes… organic traffic. Great! Aside from being able to define SEO as a set of techniques that rank websites better within Google search results, SEO is much more than that. Quality SEO is, one might say, the ONLY REASON why online users find you and decide to visit your website or online store.

Here's a great example!

You’re having coffee with friends and the bathroom tiles come to mind. Great theme because you are just renovating the bathroom. The faster the better you take out your cell phone and start google the best bathroom tiles. You scroll through the first page of search results and it catches your eye with images of tiles that would ideally fit your bathroom. You click on the result and bookmark it for later so you can study the online store a little better and, most likely, buy those tiles. If the XY page hadn't been among the first search results, they would hardly have noticed it at all.

Following this example, consider how often have you found yourself in a situation where you pulled out a cell phone to find some information on the internet? We believe that very often. You are quite an ordinary user who uses a search engine on the Internet to find answers to your questions. But have you ever wondered how Google determines the order in which it will display results? The answer is in search engine optimization!

Search engine optimization is a long-term process that needs to be approached very carefully, smartly and strategically because based on certain elements, Google decides whether you deserve to appear on the first page of search results or not.
Best practices and search engine optimization methods
You have a website or web shop that is full of different content. For example, a list of all online offers, pictures and product descriptions, content that describes your company, your services, blogs, ... whatever!

You are constantly trying to create new content because you have read that Google loves it, but you are still nowhere on Google. This is because you have not optimized your online content. Without optimization, Google (meaning that neither will users) see your hard-earned content.

You need basic page optimization. We say basic because the overall optimization of a page consists of over 200 elements that affect its positioning. These few that we will list are "MUST HAVE" if you want to be on the same level with the strongest competition, so they are considered the best practice for page optimization.

1. Meta tags
Meta tags are snippets of text that describe the content of a page. Meta tags do not appear on the page itself but in the page code, making it easier for search engines to understand what the page is about.

Meta tags exist only in HTML and are usually found in the "header" of the page, so they are only visible to search engines. There are four main types of meta tags worth using that will help you increase online traffic. We must note that there are more than four types of meta tags, but they are not so relevant to the position itself.

Title tag

The title tag is one of the first things users see in search results (SERPs). Google sees this text as the title of your page (blue text). The text is also seen on the web browser bar and on social networks when someone decides to share your page or blog.

The title tag must: be clear, descriptive, have a keyword, and be no longer than 60 characters including spaces.

Meta descriptions

The meta description explains to search engines and online users what the site is about. It's important to note that meta descriptions don't always appear in search results because Google often chooses what to display for the page description itself. Also, keywords in meta descriptions do not directly affect the page ranking itself, but a quality meta description can attract online users to click on your score.

Meta descriptions must be descriptive and be within 100-160 characters including spaces.

Meta Robots attributes

The Meta Robots attribute tells Google what you want it to do with your site. This meta tag has a similar purpose as robots.txt. It is generally used to prevent individual pages from being indexed by a search engine, while robots.txt will prevent all or part of a site from being indexed.

index / noindex - shows Google robots whether you want the page to appear in search results or not
follow / nofollow - tells Google bots what to do with links on websites - whether to trust them and follow them to the next page or not.

Meta content type

This tag is needed to define the character set you use on the page and should be present on each page. Omitting it may affect how the page is displayed in a web browser.

2. Image optimization
Image optimization according to seo rules

Google can't see what's in the image, so we use alt tags and descriptions to explain what it's about.

Image optimization includes:

Image size: We mean the image capacity. It must be as small as possible, but it must not lose on quality.
Image format: JPEG, GIF, BMP and PNG formats are recommended.
Choosing a name: the name of the image must be descriptive and it is good to use keywords. For example, instead of IMG0001.jpg name the image red-shirt.jpg
Alt Tag: Use relevant keywords when describing the image.

3. Heading tags (H1, H2, H3)
The H tags (H1 to H6) tell Google what the page is about and help them find out what's most important on the page.

It is recommended to have only one H1 tag on the page because it is the title of the whole party. Below H1 are H2, H3, and so on labels that should include keywords.

4. URL structure
URL structure for seo optimization
The website URL functions as a residential address on the web. This is the most direct way someone will visit a website, and the very structure of the URL affects the position in Google search results.

The URL always starts with the domain of your entire website, e.g. www.moje-web-m mjesto.hr, and what you want to define is what follows behind the domain. The URL must show the architecture of the site and must help users locate where they are currently located.

The URL should look something like this:

https://www.mywebsite.com/category-keyword/subcategory-keyword/mainkeyword/ID-number

5. Duplicate content (canonical tag)
Canonical tags are very useful code when you have multiple versions of what is actually the same page.

For example, when you work with similar content on pages within an entire website, you canonically tell Google which version of the page to prioritize and display it in search results.

6. Page pagination
Pagination is used in most cases when there are a large number of products or content on one page that would be difficult to display on one page. When paging, the number of content that will be displayed on one page is determined first.

The rel = prev and rel = next attributes should be placed on the pagination pages, but the first page should not have rel = prev (because there is no page preceding it), while the last page should not have rel = next.

It is important to set these attributes so that Google knows that the pages are linked.

7. 404 pages - page not found
Error 404 is actually a non-existent page.

It can happen if you redesign a website, change the structure of a website, delete a page, or something else.

Although this common mistake on the Internet is not considered a fatal error by Google, a 404 error can negatively affect your position. For example, if there are links from other sites that lead to your old URLs, they are now worthless. These links do not improve the user experience or PageRank itself, so your SEO position goes straight down.

To resolve the issue with 404 pages, it is best to redirect to existing websites that are content relevant to the non-existent page.

8. Sitemap (XML sitemap)
Sitemap or sitemap for seo optimization
Search engines should know what is happening on your site at all times. This is possible with the help of web site maps (XML sitemaps).

An XML sitemap is a list of the URLs of the entire website that you want Google to index and display in search results.

The sitemap has two purposes:

Search engines find the pages of your site more easily
search engines can use the sitemap as a reference when selecting canonical URLs on a website.

From an SEO point of view, sitamaps should include the websites you want to display in search results. Also, make sure that your sitemap is always up to date (for example, if you delete a page or add a new one, that it is deleted or added to the sitemap).

You should definitely add a sitemap to the Google Search Console, where you can track the page's indexing progress and see crawling errors.

9. Structured data (schema.org)
Structured data allows Google to improve the content on a website. It is a standardized list of attributes and categories used to describe content on a web page. In order for search engines to be able to read and use them, schema.org, an organization founded by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and Yandex, is used.

You organize the content on the website with structured data so that if you google the term "SEO blogs", the result of a particular page will come with a list of blogs that deal with SEO topics.

Structured data is a great way to customize content for search engines, which can indirectly affect search rankings.

10. Existence of multilingualism - hreflang label
In case your site is multilingual, you should use hreflang tags. The hreflang tag tells Google in which language the content is written on a particular page, so Google can know which version of the page to display to a user searching in a particular language.

You can place the Hreflang tag in an HTTP header, sitemap, or on-page markup. Use only one of these locations.

11. Other elements that affect the SEO position of a website
SEO elements that affect position on Google

HTTPS: HTTPS is an HTTP protocol with built-in security. The protection is in the form of TLS / SSL cryptographic protocols that ensure data encryption and secure communication between the browser and the server. Those pages that do not have the HTTPS protocol are marked as insecure and Google will find it harder to display them in the first search results because the security of the page is a ranking factor.
Website load speed: In addition to being one of the key factors that Google takes into account when ranking pages, load speed also affects user behavior. If the page loads longer than 5 seconds, 74% of visitors will cancel it. To increase the speed, it is necessary to reduce the size of the images or remove unnecessary ones, and remove all unnecessary plugins.
Page responsiveness. The Mobile First is no longer valid, but the Mobile Only Index! One of the most important Google policies is that you need to customize your website for mobile devices. Otherwise, it will place it in a lower position in search results because such sites do not provide a positive user experience. The responsive design adapts to the user's device, ie. The size of the screen thus increases the positive user experience as the page becomes clearer.

Our list of the most important elements for SEO site analysis is over! We hope we have been able to help and that you will check the status of your website or shop as soon as you arrive. 4. What is SEO? (BASICS AND USEFUL TIPS)

Knowledge of SEO techniques is one of the crucial skills that every professional digital marketer should possess. That is why it is very important to answer the question what is SEO?

Apart from digital marketers, the term SEO, or "SEO website optimization", is very interesting for journalists, bloggers, ie. to all persons engaged in content writing. We can freely say that website optimization, or individual website optimization, is at least as important as the quality of the text we write.
Why?

Because the articles that rank in the first places in Google search, in addition to quality and extensive content, have a perfectly done and technical aspect of creating and optimizing content, which is one of the most important SEO techniques.

On the other hand, articles that have quality content, and are not written according to SEO rules and principles, are difficult, or will not rank at all on the first page in Google search.

If, by chance, you are looking for a long-lost relative, wallet or keys - check on another Google page. We’re sure it’s a place you definitely haven’t checked out, just like the other 91% of internet users who don’t go beyond the first page of Google.

Okay.

Before we clarify exactly what SEO is and what it is for, we need to first define what SEO is not.

If you already know what SEO is not and would like to immediately move on to useful tips, scroll to WHAT IS SEO?

what did MEME sit
What is not SEO?

The term SEO is often used in many articles on the Internet together with the word optimization, which eventually turns out to be "SEO optimization". In this case, the word "optimization" is redundant, because the letter "O" in the abbreviation "SEO" means the word optimization, ie. optimization, and the very use of this word after the acronym SEO is redundant. Although it is incorrect, I will, due to the fact that most Internet users who do not know what exactly is the abbreviation SEO, and google it together with the word optimization, continue to use the term "SEO optimization" several more times in the text. Don't blame me, because, among other things, I'll try to rank the text you read in a better position on Google search for that keyword as well. Please, after reading this text and gaining new knowledge about the term SEO and useful SEO techniques and tricks, at least no longer say the term "SEO optimization", but only SEO or website optimization for search engines. It also comes to you as saying "WWW web", or "etc. further "," e.g. example ”and the like.

Let's go back to the question "what is not SEO?"

SEO is definitely not the same as CEO. CEO stands for Chief Executive Officer and has absolutely nothing to do with the term SEO.

SEO is not even a position in certain marketing agencies or digital companies. A position can be called SEO Junior, SEO Senior or SEO Expert, but it can never be just SEO.

Knowing SEO principles is not a digital skill that will bring you the desired results in a short time. For harvesting fruits from SEO trees, ie. It takes a long time to increase sales of your products or services with the help of SEO techniques.

SEO is not free. You will find a sea of ??articles on the Internet on how you can use SEO methods and techniques to position your website or individual page in a better position on Google and thus increase sales. However, if you agree with the statement that time is money, then it will be clear to you why SEO is by no means free. SEO is expensive. EXPENSIVE! It takes a lot of time to have successful SEO results.

Now that we know what SEO is not, it’s time to explain what SEO is.

What is SEO?

SEO is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization and in translation means search engine optimization. It is actually a complex process that affects the visibility of a particular site or website in unpaid web search results, which are defined as "organic", "natural" or "earned" results. This means that SEO is a combination of different methods and techniques of creating a website, creating content for a website, and obtaining external links from relevant websites, with the ultimate goal of positioning your website or individual page on the first page in Google search.

In other words, SEO represents a loving connection of a website with Google and other web search engines. In open jargon, it would be said that SEO is a polygamous link between your website and various web browsers.

What does Google friendly mean?

Google freindly does not mean that Google is exclusively friendly to your site. Google is not Metallica, my good friend.

Google friendly websites are created in a way that Google loves them. And what does Google do with the sites it loves? Logically, it ranks them in better positions in web search.
What are all the factors influencing whether a website will be Google friendly?

The speed of loading your website on mobile and desktop devices
Good user experience that visitors have with the site
Clearly defined keywords for the website and each blog post individually
    Regular publication of new content
    Periodically update old content

The speed of loading your website on mobile and desktop devices and the good user experience that visitors have with the website

If your website takes longer than two seconds to load - you're not on the right track. Two seconds would be ideal. If it takes him a full seven seconds to load - you're a big turn.

STOP.

The loading speed of your website is of great importance for the user experience of your visitors. The longer they wait for a website to load, the more likely they are to leave it.
And what message is that sending to Google?

Bypass. This website did not meet my expectations. As much as it has useful content - I don't care, because I had to wait too long.

To avoid this situation, you need to create simple websites that are not overloaded with graphics or video content. The smaller the files on your website, the faster they will load.

Find out more about how to use multimedia for better SEO results at the end of this text.

Also be careful with the choice of theme you choose for your website as well as with the choice of hosting. A beautiful topic can sometimes be deceiving. In addition to the visual aspect of the theme that you will surely pay attention to when choosing the ideal theme for your website, be sure that the theme you choose is tailored to all devices, updated regularly and easily loads every page on your website. The less time it takes for a topic to load - the better.

Likewise, the hosting you choose can greatly affect the loading speed of your website. When choosing hosting, the rule "as much money - as much music" applies. Thoroughly research the various services for hosting a website on the Internet, read user reviews, consult with friends and make the best possible decision based on that.

Avoid services like HostGator or BlueHost in a wide arc. Don't make the same mistake I did four years ago. I warned you.

Pay special attention to the loading speed of the website on mobile devices. Since Google ranks websites in better or worse search positions first based on mobile uploads, it is crucial that your website is mobile friendly.

You can check the loading speed of your website with Google PageSpeed ??Insights. All you have to do is copy the URL of your website to the field where it says "Enter website URL", click on the "analyze" option and you will get the results of how slow / fast your website is.

Clearly defined keywords for the website and each blog post individually

Before choosing a name and domain for your website you need to define the main keyword for which you want to rank it.

The best, free tool for analyzing ideal keywords for your website, as well as for each blog post individually, is called Google Keyword Planner.

In addition to the Google Keyword Planner tool, I also recommend the Soovle tool, which is also free to use.

Soovle allows you to get an insight into the most popular long tail keywords based on one selected keyword. Long tail keywords, or long-tailed keywords, are longer keywords (phrases of two + words) that internet users type in a web search when looking for specific tips, products, services, etc. Just type in the keyword you are interested in and Soovle will give you a detailed insight into the long tail keywords in search on Google, YouTube, Bing, Amazon, Yahoo and other internet search services. You can find Soovle here.

In addition to the Soovle tool, I definitely recommend that you use the "Google suggest" option. The easiest way to explain what "Google suggest" really is and how it works is to use the example I used to choose the ideal keyword and optimize the text you're reading.

Namely, before I wrote this text, I typed different terms into Google search, in order to have a better insight into which terms are most often googled when someone is interested in SEO optimization of a website.

Since I'm writing a text called "What is SEO (FUNDAMENTALS AND USEFUL TIPS)", I chose one keyword as the main keyword around which I will optimize this text, but I also came to know which similar keywords search when someone is interested in the term SEO.

Intuitively, I typed various terms related to SEO optimization and based on them, Google, just like the Soovle tool, gave me an insight into "long-tailed keywords".

Google has told me that the most searched terms for search engine optimization are as follows:

    What is SEO basics?
    What is SEO optimization?
    What is SEO marketing?
    What is SEO writing?
    Website optimization
    Site optimization
    Search engine optimization
    Website optimization for search engines
How to optimize a site for Google
    How to optimize a website
How to optimize a site for Google
    SEO site optimization
    SEO website optimization

Like the other keywords found in the photos above.

After I got a direct insight from Google into which terms are most searched for when it comes to website optimization for search engines, I made a decision on which keyword to use to optimize this text. The word I chose I used most often within the text you are reading, but I also used similar terms that Google suggested I search for. In this way, I send a direct message to Google that I want to rank the text you are reading in the best position for the selected keyword, and with the help of other, similar terms, which I also inserted in this text, I will rank it in a better position in search for more different keywords.

How do I properly use the main keyword I chose for my website?

Ideally, the keyword you choose should be in the name of your site.

If, for example, you have chosen "website optimization" as the main keyword for your site, the ideal name for it would be websiteoptimisation.com
How do I choose the right domain?

If your target audience is in more than one country, select a domain with the COM extension.
How do I properly use the keyword I chose for my blog post?

After using Google Keyword Planner, as well as the Google suggest option, or the Soovle tool, to research in detail which keyword will best match your next blog post, you need to know how to use it when writing text.

If you are a user of the WordPress platform, I recommend that you install the free Yoast SEO plugin. This plugin will be your main ally when creating SEO friendly texts for your blog.

On page SEO

When creating text, note the following:

    Title

The title you choose plays a very important role in creating your text, and based on it, Google gets information about what you are writing about. Include the selected keyword in the title of your blog post. Ideally, the keyword you choose should be at the very beginning of your title.

The first paragraph of your text

Include the keyword you selected in the first paragraph of your text. It is not necessary to start the text with the selected keyword, it is enough to appear in the first 100 characters of the text.

    Meta decription

A meta description is the part of the text that appears below the title when users search for certain terms on search engines. Definitely include the selected keyword in the meta description of your text. Pay special attention to the content of your meta description, because in addition to the title, the meta description plays a key role when Internet users make a decision whether or not to click on a particular website.

    H1 tag

When writing text, the H1 tag is treated as the page title. Don't forget to include your keyword in the H1 tag as well.

Keyword density (number of keyword repetitions in the text)

Be sure to mention the selected keyword multiple times in the text, but don't overdo it. The more words your text has - the more often you will be able to use the keyword you have chosen. For example, I chose the term "what is SEO" as the main keyword for this text. So I'm going to use it again here - what is SEO. Here it is! Well done. However, in addition to this term, within the text I also used terms such as "SEO optimization", "site optimization", "website optimization", as well as other similar terms that I listed above. As I said before, with the help of this technique I have ranked the text you are reading in better search positions for more related terms that google when someone is interested in SEO.

    URL

Include the selected keyword in the URL of your blog post. As with the title, try creating a URL that starts with your keyword. If you pay attention to the URL of this text, you will notice that right next to the page name is the term "what is SEO".

BONUS TIP: Don't forget to "iron" the URL of your texts so that they do not show the date when the text was published. If you keep the date inside your URL - Google will receive a message that you want to rank your text in the best possible position in the search when someone is interested in the exclusive time period. Since no one searches for texts based on the time they were published, but based on the title of the text, you should definitely make sure that your URLs are clean and clear. Iron the URLs inside your web shop in the same way and remove words like "category", "article" and the like. The most effective URL should have only two things in it - the name of the website and the title of the text.

    Website content tags (tags)

The content tags on the website are used to bring the various blog posts on the website into direct contact. Include a main keyword as one of the tags for your text. In addition, you can include two or three other terms that are similar to the keyword you selected as the main one for your text. At the end of the text, you will notice that in addition to the tag "what is SEO", I also added the tags "website optimization", as well as "SEO optimization".

    Long tail keywords in tags

In addition to the main keyword you'll use in the tags, add a couple of long-tailed keywords that are related to the main one. An effective tool that helps you get an insight into long-tailed keywords is the already mentioned Soovle.

What should I pay attention to when creating text?

The number of words in the blog post

The more words your blog post has - the better. Google likes extensive texts that explain a particular topic in detail. The more time your site visitors stay on a particular text - Google gets the information that the text was good and provided a clear and concrete answer to the question. When creating text, try to write a minimum of 1200 words, if you really want to rank in a good position in the search. If you are interested, the text you are currently reading has 3450 words. Congratulations on coming here. Hold on a little longer, the end of the text is approaching. If users who clicked on your text stayed short and then continued to open other texts on the same topic, Google will receive information that your text was not good enough and will rank it lower in the search position.

    Copied textual content

Do not write the same texts on one website. For each blog post, try to create original texts. Do not copy texts from other sites, and especially not from a blog post from your own site, because this practice can have a very negative impact on the visibility of your site in web search.

    Update text content

Apply the practice of periodically updating existing blog posts. If, for example, you wrote an article a month ago on "how to optimize a website" and in the meantime you came across new information, add it to the existing text. This way, your existing blog posts will rank better in Google search.
What is SEO? - Internal and external links

    External links

Try to find at least three websites that are highly ranked in Google search and whose topics are similar to the text you are writing about. Insert hyperlinks to specific keywords that will lead to the selected sites, but be careful not to link to texts that want to rank for the same keyword that you selected for your blog post. If the term hyperlink is vague to you, then My Digital Academy is for you. You can read more about MDA here. At MDA you can learn a lot more about what SEO is. Linking to high credibility sites will help your blog post rank better in Google search. One of the websites you can always link to in your blog post is Wikipedia. This website has high credibility and authority on Google and therefore it is advisable to link a particular word within the blog to Wikipedia. Be sure to link to a page on Wikipedia that relates to the same topic you are writing about in the blog post.

    Internal links

Keep existing users on your website by linking certain keywords in the blog post to existing texts from your site, the subject matter of which is similar to the text you are writing about. Apply this practice whenever you can to keep users on your website for as long as possible, thus improving your position in Google search.

Don't forget to set each link to open in a new tab, to keep users on the original text for as long as possible.

What is SEO? - Multimedia

The use of different multimedia (photo and video) in your blog post sends a new signal to Google that it is quality content.

Spice up your content with different photos and illustrations that break the monotony of dry text. Make sure that every photo on your blog is optimized to increase the chances of new users finding you through Google Photos Search.

How do I properly optimize a photo on a blog?

Before you add a new photo to the library on your site, give it a name. If, for example, the title of the text you are writing about is “What is SEO”, name your photo “what is SEO”. Once you've successfully added a photo, note that the keyword you selected for your blog is in the following places:

    Title
    Caption (Name)
    Alt text
    Decription (Description)

Make sure the photo you add to your site does not exceed 150kb in size. Photos of this size, or smaller, load very quickly and contribute to a better user experience that visitors have with your website.

Another way to keep users longer on your website, and add dynamism to your blog post, is to add YouTube links, the subject matter of which is, of course, similar to the text you are writing about. YouTube is owned by Google, so it’s no wonder why YouTube links in a blog post are another factor influencing the better position of text in Google search. If visitors to your site are featured on a single text by watching a YouTube video you add, Google will receive a message that your text has generally met the needs of users and will rank it in a better search position.
